Branscombe in Devon is a beautiful village along the coast between Lyme Regis and Sidmouth. I first came across this village whilst actually living in Devon.I was there from about 1986 to 1995/6 living in another village a few miles on the road to Exeter,named Newton Poppleford.Visits to Branscombe were more frequent when I had company come to stay for holidays etc.At this point I had not started my family research,but once started I found many "Boyland"families had lived in Branscome,dating back to about 1600,whereas most of my Ancestors where to be found in nearby(about fifteen miles) Stockland,and to this day I have not been able to connect these two villages.I am including some detail here which was sent to me several years ago by another researcher,so maybe whilst browsing this page you think you can connect the name "Boyland" to both of these villages,please contact me.
