220. John James Dunning BOYLAND was born on 28 May 1848 in Malthouse Lane, Portsea. He was christened on 18 December 1853 in St Mary's Church, Portsea, Hants. He died on 6 November 1880 at the age of 32 in Hastings St.Temora, New South Wales. John was buried on 7 November 1880 in Temora Cemetry. He has reference number 568. At the time of the birth of Henry Charles,1871,John was in the metropolitan Police force.

Witnesses to marriage in1868 were his sister Matilda Ann Boyland and Andrew White.

JJDB Joined the Metropolitan Police in London 23rd January 1871and served in Clapham and Lambeth
1871 census shows him as boarder staying at Industry Cottages,Townley Terrace.He was PC 53541
Also, an entry in 1871 gives as a lodger in Brixton.

John James Dunning BOYLAND and Angelina WHITE were married on 22 March 1868 in Portsea Parish Church. Angelina WHITE was born in 1850 in Dorset. She died on 21 March 1921 at the age of 71 in 92 Knox Road, Stamshaw, Portsmouth. She has reference number 569. 1871 Census shows Angelina Boyland with son John (aged 2 years) living at 36 Albion Street,Po rtsea.
It also shows Angelina as wife of Police Constable (Scotland Yard) Her husband of three year s not shown on census,(away from home?)

403	iv.	Ellen BOYLAND was born in 1874 in Portsmouth. She has reference number 574. 1891 census refers to Ellen as Nellie aged 17 and occupation as Box maker.
404	v.	Alfred BOYLAND was born in 1876 in 3 Providence Place Portsmouth. He has reference number 573. Found Alfred 0n 1901 census living with Mother Angelina and step-father Henry Charles.
